Turn constraints into a reviewable brief

Send the selected revisions and missing conditions.

Only applied numeric requirements and selected public identities appear in this brief. Lookup text is excluded. Add application details in your own email; engineering must review the actual operating point.

How to interpret the result

Three decisions need different evidence.

Envelope screening can reduce a list. Electrical and thermal evaluation require a defined operating point. Final confirmation belongs to a reviewed configuration and application record.

Mechanical limits, electrical and thermal review, then documented engineering confirmation1 · Envelope limitsPass / fail / unknown2 · Loaded applicationDrive, thermal and duty review3 · Configuration approvalRequires a separate reviewed record→→
Input or referenceWhat is checkedWhat remains unresolved
Maximum OD / minimum rotor boreMaximum and minimum constraints in declared mm or inches; 1 in = 25.4 mm.Fits, tolerances and customer assembly. Rotor bore is not guaranteed usable passage.
Installed axial budgetDocumented body maximum plus an explicitly supplied extra reserve. Known body exceedance fails even before the reserve.Missing reserve, a disputed body or a CAD routing reference that exceeds the space remains unresolved. Iron stack and CAD bounds cannot replace the body-and-reserve check.
Continuous and peak torqueOnly the requested temperature-rise or duration label is used; a lower documented reference fails.Application cooling, ambient, loaded speed, repetition and absolute winding limits. Passing a reference is not a hardware guarantee.
Drive current / voltage / loaded speedA voltage outside the listed range or current below a selected full-rating entry is flagged for review, without inferring comparable bus or phase definitions.Current at a lower requested torque is not inferred; no-load speed and a scalar drive range do not establish loaded capability.
Source conflicts / missing fieldsConflicts remain visible and required unknowns never become zero.Drawing identity, applicable supply revision and engineering confirmation.

Worked boundary examples

Useful exclusions beat a confident-looking score.

These are synthetic software examples, not product ratings or hardware tests. They illustrate the same boundaries used by the screen.

A short stack can still exceed the body budget.

A hypothetical 13 mm stack inside a 22 mm body fails a 20 mm installed limit. Selecting the stack value would give a false pass.

A different temperature rise is a different reference.

A request for 0.35 N·m at 55°C rise cannot use a hypothetical 0.40 N·m at 105°C rise if the 55°C entry is 0.24 N·m.

A larger short peak cannot replace a longer duty.

A hypothetical 1.86 N·m / 2 s entry cannot satisfy 1.50 N·m / 10 s when the ten-second entry is 1.05 N·m. Recovery remains a separate question.

Replacement and custom evaluation

Compare the actual interfaces before choosing a part number.

For another brand or an unmatched envelope, collect an independent drawing, shaft/retention and feedback layout, torque-speed duty, bus and current definitions, housing cooling, ambient and peak recovery timing. Standard, modified and fully custom configurations have different review and sample-validation needs; no lead time, cost saving or drop-in claim is inferred here.

Review the custom engineering process ↗

Evidence and scope

Catalog facts and application sizing are separate sources.

Visible model values come from individually reviewed engineering documentation and recorded CAD checks, with the model revision and review date. They are not independent measurements or application approvals. A record with required files or release checks missing is excluded from the production dataset.

Why the tool stops at a preliminary screen

Kollmorgen’s frameless selection discussion distinguishes initial candidate selection from performance-curve and application evaluation, including bus, current and thermal conditions. This supports keeping the stages separate; it does not validate this catalog or establish equivalence.

Why thermal limits stay beside torque

Maxon’s continuous-operation explanation relates the operating envelope to winding temperature, heat dissipation and speed-dependent losses. Its product-specific limits are not transferred to these models.

Method and external references reviewed 30 October 2026. No measured search demand, AI citation or cross-brand performance validation is claimed.

Questions that change a winding or fit decision.

What does a mechanical candidate mean?

Only the entered nominal envelope limits passed. Fits, tolerances, shaft retention, rotor support, routing and the installed assembly still need review. It is not an order approval.

Why is iron stack length not the installed height?

The stack is one axial part of the motor. The body includes end features, while leads and customer retention or feedback may extend farther. Use the body plus a deliberately stated installation reserve; review the CAD and configuration drawing separately.

Can I use the rotor bore as the available cable passage?

The listed bore is a rotor interface before the customer shaft, retention and feedback arrangement. It does not guarantee an equally large free passage in the completed assembly.

What happens when body dimensions disagree?

The affected record remains unresolved. Neither the smaller catalog reference nor the larger drawing reference is silently chosen to make your space limit pass. Resolve the source and revision before mechanical selection.

Does entering a frame ID select a winding?

No. A registered frame ID returns the actually available winding records. Open their individual current, speed, constants and revision references before choosing.

Can I substitute the 105°C continuous figure for 55°C?

No. Each torque/current entry retains its stated winding-temperature-rise basis. A missing basis is unknown, not zero or a substitute value. Equal rise labels also do not establish equal housing cooling.

Can a two-second peak satisfy a ten-second requirement?

No. The screen uses only the selected duration-specific entry. Repeated motion also needs recovery time, ambient, heat path and winding-limit evaluation.

Why does no-load speed not confirm my loaded point?

An unloaded speed and an independent torque entry do not provide a torque-speed curve for your bus, drive and heat path. A listed loaded-speed entry also lacks the complete conditions needed for automatic approval.

Does an RMS current or voltage-range check approve the drive?

No. Phase definitions, current at the requested torque, bus headroom, commutation and thermal conditions still require review. No peak-to-RMS conversion or lower-torque current calculation is inferred.

What if there are no matches?

Your original inputs remain in the form. Review the individual failed or unknown conditions and explicitly adjust a requirement, or send a custom review brief. The tool never increases your OD limit or reduces your minimum bore automatically.

Can this identify a drop-in replacement for another brand?

No automatic cross-brand relationship is registered. A replacement review needs independent mechanical drawings, winding and drive definitions, torque-speed and thermal evidence, feedback compatibility and application duty. Enter those requirements in your engineering conversation, not as a presumed alias.

What is kept in a comparison link or inquiry brief?

The fragment contains up to four valid public SKUs only. Search text is not put into the URL, inquiry brief or outcome event. The brief contains selected revisions, applied numeric requirements and missing-input reminders; the tool sends no message.

Resolve the evidence behind the shortlist

Keep the selected revision and its open questions when moving from nominal dimensions to a complete application review.
